Zane's Bio

a good man… a great man… a guitar man…

Mr Hughes was born into a very musical family. His father was the guitar playing front man in the 4 piece grunge band Contact. It was growing up submerged in this rock culture that Zane found his appreciation for everything loud. The foundation of Hughes's sound was formed during early childhood with endless car-ride karaoke’s, spontaneous living room jams, and whatever his cooler older brothers were blaring through the bedroom speakers. It was from this that Classic Rock and Punk outfits such as The Living End, Foo Fighters, Nirvana, etc. quickly established themselves as top picks on Zane's long list of influences.
The Hughes household was never a quiet one, whether it be the loud smashing of drums or practicing guitar midily-midily’s, sound and music have always played a part in daily living. Out of 4 children Zane was the second youngest, 2 older brothers and one younger sister 2 years his junior. Due to his older brothers playing guitar, bass and drums, a pressure was ignited within Mr Hughes not to be the last melon, a music-less melon with no instrument to his name. Zane then took to teaching himself, dedicating many a long nights to practicing the 6 stringed beast, his aim was to progress as much as he could in as little time as possible, catch up for the missed years, and become the best guitar melon man.
Over the years Zane’s musical taste has adapted along with his musical influences, maintaining the raw aggression of rock and roll, Hughes has grown to appreciate the significance of melody, poetic intentional lyricism and authenticity. More recently Zane has been focusing to incorporate different jazz/blues chords, while focusing to write honest and meaningful lyrics in his own personal rock compositions, progressing and developing his own sound.
Sounds Tusail is one of Mr Hughes’s most recent musical endeavours, collaborating with band mates Gill Gilmour, tuiash17, le Bront James, and the fabulous Jesse J Jesse with help from the head honcho Mr Big Daddy Bowden. They strive to encompass a wide variety of musical influences to come together and produce maximum uniqueness and maximum individual-ness. Sounds Tusail will one day take over the world, it’s not a matter of how but when. Join us now on our journey to world domination.

Gill's Bio

The Birth of a Bass Player

It was the year of 2006 and a young boy named Gill heard his sister playing piano before school. Gill listened and got jealous as he wanted to play piano also. He begged his mum to let him start learning an instrument. It was that year that he started playing piano but later on that year he discovered the drums. Fast forward to 2012 and he has used those skills and knowledge and applied himself to learning the bass guitar and it consumed him. Time has moved and Gill now finds himself making music with the members of Sounds Tusail.

The journey wasn’t that simple though. Throughout this journey Gill has been in many bands. One of which is the Shake It Up bigband where he played the trombone. This was back when he was 10. Years have continued to fly past and he is now in Grade 11 music with very basic bass skills. That year rolled around fast and it was time for Gill to start rehearsing for Retro Night, one of his first big performances. As the song choices rolled in, he realised that his current bass skills would not suffice for such bass lines so he began practicing more complex tabs until his fingers blisted and after many weeks he was ready. Since then much has happened from writing his first original to making a music demo with his band Sounds Tusail. Gill’s future is unknown and unpredictable but one thing is for sure. Music will always follow him where he goes.
